Gateshead vs. Darlington

Gateshead will be aiming to bounce to winning ways when 11th-placed Darlington make the trip to the International Stadium on Boxing Day.

Ian Bogie's Tynesiders saw their six-match unbeaten run come to an end last weekend with a 2-1 defeat to league leaders Wrexham, while the Quakers extended their unbeaten run to three games with a 2-0 victory over Cambridge United.

Bogie expects to have top scorer Jon Shaw available for selection despite the fact that the striker picked up a groin in jury in the defeat to Wrexham.

Defender Chris Gate faces a late fitness test as he looks to recover from an ankle injury in time for Monday's clash.

Bogie is hoping to end the year on a positive note, telling Chronicle Live: "The Darlington game on Boxing Day gives us the chance to end 2011 on a positive note and it is one we must take.

"Darlington have had their fair share of problems off the pitch and if we can take the three points we have a chance of moving back into the top six."

Darlington caretaker boss Craig Liddle will ring the changes for their Boxing Day clash with Gateshead.

Adam Reach has returned to parent club Middlesbrough following the completion of his one-month loan at the Northern Echo Arena, while skipper Ian Miller appears to have played his last game for the club.

Miller handed in his 14-day notice near the beginning of the month and is not expected to play any part in Monday's fixture.

John McReady and Kris Taylor will both be pushing for a recall after being dropped for the victory over Cambridge.

Reflecting on the options available to him, Liddle told The Northern Echo: "It's deteriorated over the last 24 hours.

"Adam Reach has gone back to Middlesbrough and, unless something changes quickly, Ian Miller will have left the club by Boxing Day, so two out of my starting XI on Saturday will be gone, but we will just have to get on with it and make do with what we've got.

"Again, I'll bring a couple of the kids in, who haven't let anyone down in the last few weeks.

"It's going to be difficult for us but we can only go with what we've got and I'm sure the XI that I put out will give everything for the cause."
